My Kitties | Raleigh Family Photographer

Out of boredom and the realization that I haven't blogged about or posted on my facebook page about my kitties I thought I'd take the opportunity to share them with you!

Most of us have a pet, or have had a pet growing up.  When I was in elementary school I had two huge, orange tabby cats.  LOVED them!  And so upon returning back to the U.S. from the U.K. and after about a year we decided we'd like to give our girls and family the experience and love of having a pet(s).

After, letting it sink into my husband and the girls pleading, we decided to start looking for a cat/kitten.

I decided to start searching Craigslist for the right fit.  And after only a page or two I found a nicely written piece on 2 kittens and their personalities, each with a photo.  I could tell whomever was adopting them out wanted the best for them.  I come to find out that the neighborhood where their temporary home was just around the corner from ours.  It was meant to be.

So, for almost a year now we have had the joy of our two adopted boys.  I enjoy all the snuggles and attention.  The girls keep them busy with playing, fetching, and petting them.  My oldest is in charge of feeding and watering them.  But, we decided that after one go at doing kitty litter that it is best that either myself or my husband take care of that!  So, just for fun here are a couple of photos of our two boys!

Newborn Luke

Yes, I am VERY behind in blogging.  I thought that this post would be most appropriate to follow the previous blog post.  So it goes from belly to baby!

This precious lil' guy was definitely photogenic.  He even had the cutest crooked part to his lips when he was extra sleepy.

Momma did an excellent job keeping him happy and sleepy!  (Just the way I like them!)

We added lots of personal touches to this newborn session.  Since Mom is a teacher and loves apples, we had to have a shot with a beautifully crocheted apple hat.  Which you can find at http://shopbacacreations.com/ . Also, a family quilt was incorporated as well as some Tennessee spirit!

Beautiful Baby Bump

I know.  I know.  It has been two months since my last blog post.  I apologize.  Life and business have both been busy!  And that is always great!!

My little girl who is in 1st grade has the most amazing teacher!  And she just so happens to be expecting a little boy!  (Watch for his photos coming sometime in May!)  So, I mentioned to her that I do photography and that I would love to do her newborn photos as part of my portfolio building.  Luckily she agreed to that AND wanted family/maternity photos done as well!  Saying that I was excited would've been an understatement.

The location, the weather, the lighting (oh how I love my backlighting), and of course an amazing family all came together just as I had pictured it!!

My Sweetheart

Just like any holiday it seems like Valentine's Day snuck up on me!  I have to admit though, being sick the week before put both me and my youngest out of commission.

I'd like to think that on Valentine's Day that everyone puts in that extra effort to be "romantic".  But, for me it's really just another day.  But, serves as a good reminder that I am truly blessed to have a family that loves me and who I love just as much in return.

So, on a whim I thought it would be cute to grab my oldest for a couple of photos to celebrate the day of love.  (I would've grabbed my youngest too, but she was napping.)

I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day.  I know I made the most of mine!

Newborn Love

A few months back you'll see a beautiful family from my maternity session.  Well, of course that maternity session gave way to a newborn session, and I got to meet the most handsome little man!

I almost, and repeat, almost went home wanting to try for a baby boy.  He was SO good.  I pray that every newborn shoot goes as well as this one did!

In the end we captured some amazing shots of how super adorable he is.  I can't wait for another newborn session as I learned a lot from this one!  And the next one will be a girl!

Personal Post: Christmas Cookies

This Christmas season we were finally together, and we thought that we would try and start some family traditions.

Elf became part of our festivities as he moved around the house doing different things and keeping an eye on the girls.

We also attended the 5 o'clock mass.  And even with being a half hour early it was standing room only! It was so good to see so many people at church...now to only have that many year round!

But one of my favorites was making sugar cookies and decorating them.  So, I had my camera handy to capture the cookie decorating and thought I'd share.

I hope everyone has a safe and blessed new year!  We are excited to see what 2012 has in store!

My First Belly Session

I was SO happy when Lisa asked me to do some maternity photos of her and her family! I hadn't ever done maternity photos before and I was more than excited! Lisa had already had me do her son's two year photos just a few weeks before. So I knew that I was going to have a good time. Of course like any mom to be Lisa looked beautiful and it was very apparent how much this family loves each other!

I look forward to many more maternity sessions in my future! And hopefully some newborn sessions as well! Because we all know the babies have to come out!
